Dunes Beach
One of the resident turtles at Dunes Beach

Dunes Beach in Exmouth is a surf spot on the Ningaloo Reef that is loved by locals and visitors alike. Swells that originate in sub-polar storms far to the south west of WA travel in a huge arc through the Indian Ocean before being caught by bottom contours and wrapping into Lighthouse Bay. Right and left hand waves peel off along the coral and limestone reefs, providing fun and playful waves when the swell is small and challenging freight trains when the swell is bigger. The warm waters are home to myriads of fish and other sea life such as sea turtles. Dunes is a special place for many people, and the owners of this board look forward to their yearly pilgrimage to escape the end of Perth’s winter in the balmy waters of Exmouth.
