About the Artist – Claire Marie

I’m Claire Marie, a Welsh-born, Perth-based acrylic artist with a passion for creating vibrant, meaningful and one-of-a-kind artworks inspired by the natural beauty of Western Australia.

For the past six years, I’ve been transforming old surfboards into bespoke works of art, giving boards that might otherwise end up in landfill a new lease on life. Each piece is carefully hand-painted, often incorporating personal photographs, favourite places, meaningful memories and the little details that make every story unique.

What began with a single commissioned surfboard has grown into a collection of more than 95 individual artworks, now finding their way into homes around the world.

But my art isn't just for surfers. It's about celebrating the places we love, the memories we treasure and the connections that make life special.

Alongside my surfboard art, I create original acrylic paintings and prints inspired by the incredible landscapes, coastlines and marine life of Western Australia. I'm particularly passionate about protecting our natural environment, and I love finding ways to bring awareness to marine conservation through my work.

Working from my little home studio in Perth, I pour my heart into every piece, combining vivid colour, intricate detail and a deeply personal approach to create art that tells a story.

My philosophy is simple: create art that means something, celebrates the things we love, and gives something old a beautiful new beginning.
